A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY!
Earlier this week in the Layton Utah area there was a 4 year old boy that was badly beaten and then murdered by his step father. On Tuesday morning the news reported the boy as missing but it was later discovered that he was abused and murdered. the boy was court ordered to go and spend the summer with his mother after a divorce and had only just arrived in Layton, from Virginia, on May 1st.
I will not go into any more detail about this story because it makes me sick to my stomach and my heart is already in pieces from the reality that this poor defenseless little boy was murdered in cold blood by someone that he should have been able to trust, if you want to know more you can go here.
As I read the brutality of this story my thoughts turned to my own children. I love them with all of my heart and I do not know how I would go on if they were ever to go through something like this! It makes my spirit ache with a pain so intense that I almost buckle into a ball on the floor. I know that that little boy is with Heavenly father and is now and forever will be loved and in a safe place, but its the aftermath that is left behind that causes the most pain. His father will not get to see him grow up , graduate high school, go to college, get married, have children of his own, experience life, or become a parent himself. In the latter days it is said that the hearts of the mothers will be turned away from their children, that they will not be nurturing, caring or protective.
It breaks my heart to know that mothers , who should above all other things, uphold the children that they bring into this world, are treating them like a piece of garbage. to be throw away the first chance they get.
I know that I am not a perfect mom, and there are days that I would like to not have to deal with every single aspect of raising children. But I am responsible for their spiritual well being as well as their Physical, I never forget that! I know that Heavenly father has entrusted to me 3 of his most valiant and righteous children that I need to instill a great love of Christ and sense of charity. I am not saying that being a parent is easy... most days it is quite the opposite. But that doesn't ever give ANY PARENT the right to treat their child( that Heavenly father has put in their care) with hatred or malcontent! My heart aches for that little boys, Ethan's father who hesitated in sending him to Utah, but had no choice because the courts ordered a Summer visit to his mother. My prayers and heart go out to him and his family in this time of great sorrow!
I for one will embrace my children a little tighter, and remember that they are children that are entrusted to me , so it is my privilege to raise them and teach them the ways of my Heavenly father. So that they may grow up with a respect for others and a pure love of Christ!
