Paco... Dec 1998-April 2011
I have been putting of this post because it makes me cry every time I work on it. Our beloved Paco went home on April 13 of this year. He was such a wonderful dog!!!
I got him for Aaron for valentines Day the year that we were engaged. He was such a small little thing. The first night we had him he kept me up all night whimpering because he didn't know where he was or why he didn't have his mom or siblings with him. I was with him until 4 n the morning when My BFF and roomate Thora came and spelled me so that I could get 2 hours sleep before I had to work my 2 jobs. ( the little stinker fell fast a sleep with her 5 minutes after I left) Paco brought joy to our lives from the minute that he entered it. The very first time that Aaron saw him he melted his heart. WE took him to the store to get the necessary puppy supplies. He was showing the pup off to some girls and Paco peed all over Aaron's arm... It was pretty hilarious to look back on. He used to get up on the window sill in our bedroom and just sit there watching the world go by( he was our little cat back then ) he enriched our lives every day that he was in it!
He loved the water! when we would take him for rides and we would get near water he would whine and whine until we stopped. then he would rush to the water like a bull at a Mad-adore. Spending the whole time there and being completely exhausted for the rest of the day.
When we started having kids Paco was so wonderful with them. he was protective of them and let them climb and crawl and poke and prod and whatever else the kids could think of to do with him. HE would just look at Aaron and I with a look of Really, Do I have to endure another little rugrat in the house :) but he was wonderful with kids. He HATED Thunder storms. When one would roll through he would bounce around the house like a nervous wreck. never staying put in one spot until the storm passed. ( unless Aaron was home and then he would all but climb into is lap. )
Paco was always a playful pup, from the day he was born until the day he passed. If you gave him an empty soda bottle he would play with it for days!
Our wonderful friend Scott Elliott is a meat butcher and when he was going to school he would always stop by the house with a massive cow bone and drop it over the fence Paco absolutely loved Scottie!

HE loved to be outside. He would roll in the grass and it was the joke in our neighborhood that he was the Godfather of Dogs, because he had a routing. Every night around 10ish he would disappear and when he came back he always had a bone or toy of some sort. Aaron and I laughed when we saw it. Everyone in our neighborhood knew and loved him.
Paco loved the great outdoors. When we would go camping he would follow us around until we loaded him in the truck just to make sure that we weren't going to leave him. By the end of the day he was just as tired as the kids so we would send them all of to bed. This is one of my favorite pictures. All of these pictures are my favs!!!
Katie had this Magic Sorcerer Mickey Mouse Ears and Paco was so good to let us put them on him. It was another one of those moments when he looked at me like"Really"come on mom...
Paco started to get sick on April 8th and by April 12th He was unable to eat or drink anything and keep it down. He hadn't eaten anything for almost 3 days. Aaron and I made the decision to put him down because it is not fair to him that we keep him here in pain because we can't let go. So we called our friend Jenn because she needed to know( she wanted to say good bye.) These are the last pictures of Paco that I took while he was with us. We also told the kids that night because it was not fair for them to come home from school the next days and find out that their pup was put to sleep and they didn't get to say good bye.

I didn't take a picture with me and Paco because I was too upset, but this is my fav picture of Paco and me!!!

Even our other puppy Nala knew that Paco was very sick. She didn't leave his side and was very sad when he was gone.
Aaron took the day off of work and built a box for Paco so that we would be able to bring him home and bury him in the back yard. Ira, Scottie and Aaron dug the hole in our VERY VERY rocky back yard( Ira dug most of it) and then we held a funeral at tour children's request... to give them closure. My wonderful Friend brought us dinner that night so that we would not have to worry about it after our ordeal of the day. I will be forever grateful to her!!!! Thank you! Even though Paco is no longer here with us I know that he is in Heaven guarding our home there until the time when we will be united. At times it is still hard for us But we will forever be changed for the good because of our wonderful loyal family member.
