This post contains a graphic wound picture... just so you know.
So I had just gotten home from work on the 23rd of August when Charles comes crying up the front step. His good friends Breck and Kylan brought him home saying that he had cut his leg down to the bone. The boys were playing outside and Charles slipped on some mud and came smack down hard on a pointed rock. I took him in the Bathroom and cleaned his leg up the best I could. At that point I know that he needs to go to the Doctor, and of course our family practice is closed for one, and We don't have insurance for two. But what can you do... We went to Instacare. There was no one in the waiting room so we pretty basically went right back. They put a topical numbing agent on the wound which took like 20 minutes to take affect.that left time for Charles and I to read. They brought us 2 books. I read Charles the first one and Charles read me the second one.
I don't know if you can tell but all around the cut the skin is kind of a whitish color. The nurse says that is good. the black line that is on the one side of the cut is a bad bruise from the rock that cut his leg. It was a sad sight.
When all was said and done he had 3 stitches. Amazingly enough though this is only the second time in his life that he has needed stitches. And the first time wasn't even his fault. He was a pretty brave little man!
This is after math of the "battle wound" not so bad :) it was a little hairy at first because we weren't sure if the cut was deep but it didn't turn out to bad.
The stitches only needed to stay in for 7 days, I forgot to take Charles in on the 7th day but Emily and Ira were over for dinner and Charles agreed that as long as I helld his hand Emily could cut the stitches out. He did pretty well. the top stitch was kid of embedded in the scab and it had to be scraped out a little. all in all it wasn't bad though. An once again life is back to normal, or as normal as it gets, around here.
