Christmas 2019

This year Arizona came to us. And I am so grateful because with Aaron's job, we are rarely able to travel during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Kalinda and her family left Phoenix early on Dec. 21 and Mom and Dad followed a few hours later. Mom and Dad stayed at Shannon's house because that was easiest for her. She is the most familiar with their house and it is quieter. That meant that Kalinda and her family got to stay with us. It gave them a welcome calm and break from their everyday life. The time we spent together was filled with Laser tag in the Layton Hills mall, a white Elephant gift exchange and Nacho Bar at Logan's club house, Chinese food on Christmas Eve. Which was kind of a fiasco, Shannon called ahead, ordered and paid for our dinner. She asked for a 5:30 pick up, but something was lost in the translation. She and Larry waited for an hour and a half for our order and they forgot half of our meals, but it was good and nastalgic! We all opened our Christmas Eve PJ's and gave our individual gift to the savior. The tradition of Jesus gifts is very dear to my heart. I started it years ago, all of my family has adopted it. It is a wonderful way to gives small gift to our Savior who has given so much to us! One small way that through the next year, we will honor his sacrifice and work on improving ourselves.
Christmas day was filled with laughs and happiness. Unfortunately Kyah had to work so we woke up early and had breakfast with her and opened presents. We had a great family morning.
The day at Shannon's was low key and nice as well. It was hard for my mom because she wanted to open all of her presents in the morning and that left her with nothing to open when we got there. It made me sad! We had a lovely dinner, Sequoia had a turkey and Aaron cooked delicious Prime Rib Roast! He is such a master when it comes to cooking meat.
the Monday before Christmas Charles and Chelsea went on a double date down to Salt Lake to see the lights at Temple Square. This is the last time they will be up for the next 4 years because the Salt Lake temple will be closed for renovations until 2024. They had a wonderfule time Charles took Sariah Swainstons and Chelsea took Tyson hodges. They rode the train down and went to Costa Vida for dinner then walked around Temple square. They were able to have an in depth your of the conference center. They walked down by the pulpit where the Prophet and apostles sit for conference. And they were able to go onto the roof. It was a really cool experience.
The day after Christmas we split forces and all went to the final saga in the Star Wars Saga, it was SO GOOD!
We wanted to make sure that someone( not Kalinda) was able to take care of Mom the whole time. So I went to the first showing and Shannon to the second. Our time together as a family was short but so worth it and wonderful. It was a great way to end the year!!!!
