Our Cabela’s trip in Arizona was certainly a most memorable. We love Cabela’s anyways. For Aaron it is like a kid in a candy shop.

So we went to Cabela’s in Glendale, AZ for family night while we were down visiting with my Parents and Sister Kalinda’s Family, and brad’s Brother and his Kids Aiden and Sage.

So they do this really fun thing on Monday nights for the family at Cabela’s, they do a cute little scavenger hunt for the kids, give them coins to use at the shooting gallery, and of course there is watching the feeding the fish (Aaron’s personal favorite)

When we first arrived there was a bit of a mix up concerning the feeding of the fish. The woman at the customer service desk didn’t know her head from a hole in the ground when she was asked about the feeding times for the fish. She thought told us that they were not going to feed the fish that night (which until we discovered that the fish were going to be fed, put Aaron in a bad mood) so for a replacement of watching the big fish be fed in the aquarium, we got some fish pellets and took the kids to the little pond that is in the middle of the store (in Aarons words, it was a cheap imitation)

Each of the kids were given a “scavenger hunt” paper when we got there with a bunch of different animals pictures on it, and they got to cross them off as they found them. It was great competition and fun to see who could find them all first. I think we had a 7 way tie

Upstairs by the shooting gallery is this really cool life size stuffed moose so of course we took everyone’s picture by it. Except for Mom and Dad, they were playing with the grand babies which is too bad L Just kidding. They loved EVERY minute of it.

As we were walking around finished all of the different animals on the scavenger hunt, an announcement was made that they would be feeding the fish in the aquarium. We all headed downstairs to watch the fish be fed. It was a lot of fun to watch the kids’ reaction to the feeding. Samuel and Joseph were enthralled with it. The main Cabela’s employee that is in charge of the care of the fish in the aquarium was there, Rick was his name and he was asking the kids questions and interacting with them. It was great. Then He asked if someone wanted to help him feed the fish, Of course every single hand in the place went up like a rocket sailing toward the moon

So the question was,( and Patrick you are going to appreciate this) “who is Spongebob Squarepants best friend?” Chelsea was the first to answer.

She and Aaron headed up stairs to the tank room.

Chelsea had to wash and sanitize her hands first, and then Rick showed her the different aspect about the tank room.

There is a tank for the feeder fish,

the tank where he nurses sick fish back to health, and finally the main tanks that house the Cabela’s fish aquarium.

Chelsea got to feed the Turtles and catfish.

They are fed with fish pellets that sink to the bottom of the tank into a boat that they have there and the turtles and catfish go down and scoop it up from there. It’s pretty interesting to watch. Chelsea was excited but I think Aaron was in Hog Heaven. Aaron talked to Rick and arranged for all of us to come back on Thursday at 5pm and go fishing in the Bass pond that they have in the back of the store( more on that later)

All of the other kids were sad that they didn’t get to go and feed the fish but they were okay with it after a minute.

All in all I think our family night at Cabela’s was a success
